## Our Story

Founded in 2022 in Augsburg

### Expertise meets entrepreneurial spirit

alitiq was founded in February 2022 in Augsburg by Matthias Habel and Daniel Gröger.

Daniel Gröger is a meteorologist and completed his Master's degree in Physics of the Earth and Atmosphere in 2017. Before alitiq, he was founder and meteorologist at EWB Wetterberatung and worked as an energy meteorologist at meteocontrol and energy & meteo systems. Today, as CTO, he is responsible for the technical development of the alitiq engine.

Matthias Habel graduated in 2005 with a degree in Geography, with minors in Urban Planning and Cartography. He began his career as a software developer at WetterOnline, where he played a leading role in developing the popular weather radar. Following his later role as Head of Corporate Communications, he now holds overall responsibility at alitiq as CEO.

The passion of alitiq's founders is the combination of data science and meteorology.

#### The alitiq engine

They bring both disciplines together in a generic AI model for analyzing and predicting specific processes: the alitiq engine. The model is capable of linking meteorological data with any additional process data. Using machine learning methods, relationships between meteorological data and customer data are identified, mathematically linked, and quantified. This makes the processes underlying the data predictable.

#### Sustainability

The alitiq team is convinced that its approach and technology contribute to building a more sustainable economy. Based on alitiq forecasts, companies will be able to plan more proactively and use resources more sparingly. For example, they can reduce CO2 emissions.

#### Resilience & opportunities

Companies are empowered by alitiq to quantify the influence of weather on their business success and thus have the opportunity to proactively control these influences. They increase their weather resilience in the short term and their climate resilience in the long term. In addition to risks, they also recognize the opportunities that lie in weather and climate and increase their entrepreneurial success.

## The Team

Perfect weather and mountain panoramas instead of screen work: the alitiq team in the Lechtal valley – January 2026.

Behind our forecasts is a strong team from mathematics, physics, computer science and meteorology. Although we work 100% remotely, personal interaction is especially important to us – whether during focused on-site working days of the data science team or at the big reunion at our annual team meetings. What sets us apart: our development stays close to practice. The people who build the models also know the people who work with them every day.

Between the strategy workshops in the Lechtal, there was also time for a sledding trip.

## On the Road

Close to the market: at alitiq, we bring our solutions directly to where the industry comes together. Whether at major trade fairs such as E-world in Essen and Intersolar in Munich, on international stages like Enlit in Milan and Energy Trading Week in London, or at smaller specialist forums – we value personal dialogue on an equal footing and professional exchange with customers and partners. As speakers, we also regularly share our insights on AI-powered forecasts for the energy industry at conferences.
